These hormones help improve symptoms within even a month or two of treatment. This controlled process allows our staff to proactively monitor your hormone levels and make adjustments. We’ll also make continued recommendations for lifestyle changes, to help achieve your ultimate goals.

The process for getting started with BHRT in Highland Park starts by scheduling a lab test and an appointment 2 weeks after the labs are conducted. (We can complete these labs in our office!) The blood test results will include detailed hormone levels. At the lab appointment, you will also complete the required intake forms. These forms include a detailed patient history and a list of present complaints.

Dr. Perlis will review your labs to determine a specific customized treatment plan for you. At that time, we will order your hormones and they’ll be shipped to you from a specialized, accredited compound pharmacy. You will be scheduled for regular labs and office visits to ensure you are adhering to our recommendations. This will also allow us to monitor any changes in your health status as you continue BHRT.

If your thyroid hormone is low (hypothyroidism), oftentimes you will require a separate medication for your thyroid gland. We can help you determine whether naturethriod, armour, compounded thyroid or Synthroid or cytomel can correct this deficiency.

If you are experiencing adrenal fatigue (low cortisol) Dr. Perlis will discuss which options would be best for you. We often suggest an adrenal supplement that can help with energy during low-energy periods.
