Aesthetic Treatments / May 5, 2023

When you think about aesthetic treatments, lasers may sound too sci-fi and painful for you. But at Perlis MedSpa and Wellness Center, we strive to deliver the most comfortable, effective treatments possible. So when we recommend CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park, know your comfort and results are our top priority.

Our specialists know because we’ve been there. We’ve been told our whole lives “Beauty is pain.”. However, when we discovered how comfortable CO2 Laser resurfacing can be with the Tetracoolpeel, we knew we had to share it with our patients.

What is CO2 Laser Resurfacing in Highland Park?

CO2 Laser resurfacing in Highland Park uses lasers to remove damaged skin. By creating microscopic holes in the skin, it stimulates the production of new collagen and promotes skin rejuvenation. The laser energy is delivered in a grid-like pattern leaving small areas of untreated skin between the treated areas. This approach minimizes damage to the skin and maximizes natural healing.

We use Tetra and CoolPeel for CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park. These methods utilize advanced fractional lasers. As these lasers penetrate the epidermis, they generate a great deal of heat. By adding carbon dioxide to the treatment, we are able to counteract the heat generated by the lasers. This results in far less pain and rapid recovery!

What does it treat?

Perlis MedSpa and Wellness Center uses this treatment to improve the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, scars, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage. After a CO2 laser treatment, the skin may be red, swollen, and sensitive. Healing time can vary, but it typically takes a week or two to recover from an aggressive, ablative CO2. Your goals and comfort level determine how many treatments we’ll need to schedule to fully address your concerns.

For basic maintenance and a natural boost, we may only have to schedule 2-3 treatments. We monitor your progress between treatments by checking in periodically and making sure you’re satisfied with your results. CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park is just a tool we use to address our patient’s needs. If you have specific concerns, such as Milia or scarring, your specialist will work with you to determine the right treatment plan to reach your goals.” Something along those lines.

What to Expect

In your consultation, we’ll take a deep dive into your total health. We don’t believe in one-and-done treatments. That’s why we talk about how you feel, your overall wellness, and what your goals are. Our approach is very different than other medspas in Highland Park. But this all-encompassing consultation is the best way to get to the root of your concerns and build the most effective treatment plan.

As we talk about your CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park, we’ll determine your pain tolerance and give you pointers on how to prepare for your treatment. You’ll want to avoid harsh sunlight for 4 weeks before treatment. We don’t recommend smoking at all, but if you do, you’ll need to hold off for about two weeks before your treatment. Our specialists will also ask about any medications you’re taking as some may affect your skin’s health before or after treatment.

The day of your treatment

First things first, you don’t have to take the day off! Our CO2 Laser resurfacing in Highland Park usually lasts under an hour, but we won’t tell your boss if you take a long lunch. After you check in, we’ll escort you to a procedure room where we’ll adjust your chair for comfort and answer any last minute questions.

We start by prepping the treatment area with a deep cleanse. After the pre-cleanse, we can apply a topical anesthetic. This isn’t always necessary, but it insures the least amount of pain possible. With a prepped and ready work area, we begin to work our magic.

During and After Treatment

As our CoolPeel CO2 laser targets just the superficial layer of skin tissue, it works to remove damaged skin. Leaving you with younger, healthier-looking skin. Following your CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park, we’ll apply high SPF topicals to minimize redness and protect your results.

You can get right back to business, but before you go, we’ll schedule any follow ups and give you some pointers on maintaining your results. During recovery it’s important to minimize sun exposure and use gentle skin products to promote healing.

Even after one treatment the results can be significant. You’ll likely notice a difference in the texture and tone of your skin. However it may take multiple treatments to reach optimal results and they can vary based on your age, skin type, and the extent of the damage being treated.

Additional treatments

CO2 stands alone as the gold standard for skin resurfacing. But you can also pair it with almost any other treatment option. Our most common pairing is Virtue RF microneedling, the only microneedling treatment that uses radiofrequency to further improve skin tightening.

Your specialist will include any additional treatments in your tailored plan. When we plan for your CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park, we’ll also plan for any additional treatment needed. That way your wellness and aesthetic treatments are scheduled for efficacy and time efficiency.

What makes CO2 resurfacing in Highland Park different?

While these lasers are powerful, we’re not talking about firing up the death star. Laser resurfacing has been around since the 1960s. But CO2 is a fairly recent addition to the treatment. Perlis MedSpa and Wellness Center only uses the highest quality equipment available for your CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park.

The Tools of Our Trade

Our office uses Tetra CO2,l in our treatments. This CO2 fractional laser resurfacing device uses a CoolPeel to improve patient comfort during the procedure. Compared to other CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park, Tetracool peel uses four mode fractional technology which creates a unique pattern of tiny laser beams to treat the skin.

This pattern ensures more effective and precise delivery of laser energy to the targeted areas, resulting in deeper penetration of the skin and more dramatic results. The cooling system used in Tetracool peel works by releasing a cooling agent immediately after each laser pulse. This helps to minimize discomfort during the procedure and reduce the risk of complications such as burns or scarring.

Keeping your cool

Tetra CO2 treatments are generally considered to be less invasive and less painful than traditional fractional resurfacing with a faster recovery time. However, like all treatments, it still carries some risks and side effects, and the results vary. Typically people need more treatments when treating with a Tetracool peel, but they have much less downtime when they’re doing so.

Cool Peels in hotter seasons

Due to the ablative nature of these lasers, it’s important to make sure you’re doing the right thing for your skin. There are always risks when you’re doing CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park. But when we have more Sunshine and heat and we run a higher risk of damage during the healing process.

You can still benefit from CO2 Laser resurfacing in Highland Park during the summer. But we do recommend extra caution as your skin heals. Your face will have a very thin layer of protection for a few days following your treatment, so staying cautious after your treatment is a must for the health of your skin.

Meet the coolest specialist in Highland Park

Keeley Allen MSN, APRN, FNP-C is known for nonsurgical facelifts by doctors and patients nationwide. But Keeley brings so much more to the Perlis MedSpa and Wellness Center team. Here are a few common questions Keeley answers every day about CO2 laser resurfacing in Highland Park.

How did you get to know CO2 treatments?

Keeley: I got to know this laser being with Doctor Perlis and I’ve been resurfacing for a long time. I’ve been using CO2 lasers for about 15 years now.

Why do you like this treatment?

Keeley: Usually with resurfacing, patients have a lot of downtime. They look, pretty beat up for at least a good week or so. But with the cool peel, maybe you do it more often, but you don’t have to go through all that downtime with it is, you know, good advancement.

What is the defining factor of this treatment?

Keeley: The factor is the lack of pain because I’ve had many resurfacing lasers on my face and it’s usually not a fun thing to do. You may dread doing it. it’s painful, it’s hot, and you look like meatloaf for a week. I mean, it’s just really not a fun treatment to have done. The results are great, but it’s uncomfortable and it’s a lot of downtime and work.

The results we get with the cool peel are great to see. Similar results, and you don’t have to go through that discomfort and downtime because you can do a cool peel in like 15 minutes with really no numbing. While we can use a topical, it’s usually not necessary.
